My Journey Into Sports Massage
I came to sports massage after completing 15 marathons and navigating my own share of running-related injuries. Like many women who are active, I’ve experienced tight calves, sore hips, niggling knee pain, and the frustration of wanting to keep going while knowing my body needed better care.
Before retraining, I ran my own automotive business for two decades — a physically demanding, male-dominated industry involving long hours, repetitive strain, and constant pressure. That experience gave me a deep respect for how the body responds to stress, overload, and imbalance, and how essential recovery is for long-term health and performance.
Personal Growth & Change
In 2018, I trained in Reiki, a process that helped me understand myself on a much deeper level. Although I was blew away after my sister was showing signs of being very ill and I asked her if she would mind if I tried my new skill on her. After one session the colour had came back into her lips which had been a grey colour for a few months, but she also reported that her headache had lifted after 3 whole weeks. While I was excited to move into a new role, I found the transition challenging, particularly as I was still working within a male-dominated environment that no longer aligned with who I was becoming. But, then the crunch came when my sister was eventually diagnosed in 2019 with colon cancer. I continued when I could to treat her and she even improved so much that her colostomy bag was removed. This was a massive step which helped her to regain her confidence.
When Covid hit, I began experiencing anxiety and, after speaking with my GP, was told I was peri-menopausal. More recently, as I have moved into post-menopause, it has become clear that the anxiety wasn’t something to fight against, but something to listen to. It was my body’s way of signalling that I needed to change direction.
This period of reflection has helped me realise that I want to work exclusively with women — to create a space that feels safe, supportive, and aligned with my own values and experiences.
Who I Work With
I work with women who want to:
-
prevent injury
-
recover more effectively
-
manage ongoing aches, stiffness, or tightness
-
support their bodies through physical work, training, or life changes
-
move more freely and comfortably long-term
You don’t need to be an athlete to benefit. Many of my clients simply want to feel better in their bodies and regain confidence in how they move.
My Approach
My approach is practical, focused, and tailored to you. Treatments are adapted to your body, your lifestyle, and how you’re feeling on the day — never a one-size-fits-all routine.
As a runner myself, I understand the mental side too: the temptation to push through pain, the fear of losing progress, and the relief when your body finally starts to move more freely again.
Above all, I believe in honest treatment. If I don’t think something is necessary, I won’t recommend it — and I won’t ask you to spend money on something your body doesn’t need.
